Alizz Islamic Bank honoured for its humanitarian efforts

In recognition of its strong commitment to sustainable social responsibility and its pioneering role in supporting people with disabilities in the Sultanate, Alizz Islamic Bank was honoured by the Ministry of Social Development at an event held to mark the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The event was held under the patronage of Her Highness Dr Mona bint Fahad Al-Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University. The award was received by Muna Al-Khusaibi, Deputy Senior Manager of the Marketing and Corporate Communications Department, at Alizz Islamic Bank.

Enunciating about the honour, Murtadha Jawad Al Lawati, Assistant General Manager and Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Department at Alizz Islamic Bank said: “We in Alizz Islamic Bank, give priority to investing in our communities, as we always seek to provide a better life for the people we serve across the Sultanate. In this regard, investment in sustainable initiatives is critical to the prosperity of society, and the bank makes sure to give strong support to the national organisations that takes efforts effective to build strong and flexible communities. Moreover, the bank continues to contribute to the growth of non-profit social organisations. The employees have dedicated more than 1,000 hours of their time for volunteer work and fundraising to support local community organisations. The bank has been supporting these efforts through employees’ community programmes.”

He added: “The secret of a happy life is not to achieve individual success. There is nothing more beautiful than helping others to achieve success. When we live for ourselves only, life seems too short and shallow, but when we live for others, life becomes longer and deeply meaningful. Alizz Islamic Bank seeks excellence in providing humanitarian initiatives that best serve the society. These efforts seeking to care for people with disabilities and orphans in the Sultanate are driven by the government’s interest, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, in ensuring that such individuals obtain all rights, on equal footing with all other citizens of the Sultanate, including their right to be rehabilitated in different rehabilitation institutions, so that they can be easily integrated into the society to play their role in its prosperity alongside all Omanis.

Previously Alizz Islamic Bank and the Ministry of Social Development launched the website www.crowdfunding.alizzislamic.com as a crowdfunding project aiming to raise OMR two million to build the Centre of Excellence for Children with Disabilities. The crowdfunding website will allow all sectors and segments of the society to participate and contribute to building the Centre and help orphans living in and out of the Sultanate and following simple and flexible steps. It is worth noting that the donation process observes standards of absolute transparency by revealing the exact number of total donations. When one accesses the website, he/she can notice the digital meter’s movement, indicating how the target is achieved and how much of it is remaining.
